The Anglo-American School of Moscow (AAS) opened its new 24,000-square-meter, state-of-the-art facility in Northwest Moscow in August 2000. The "new" AAS is the culmination of a decade of dedication and effort by its three founding embassies -- the US, UK and Canada -- and hundreds of parent volunteers, as well as by 50 corporations whose early belief in the new facility raised the seed money to stage its groundbreaking in 1998. All recognized the need for a first-class educational institution in Moscow to attract top-flight diplomats and executives to the city. Nestled between the Moscow Canal and the Pokrovskoye-Glebevo Park off Volokolamskoye Schosse, 20 minutes from the city center, the school stands on 6.5 hectares of wooded land adjacent to the Pokrovsky Hills housing community.

In the summer of 2002, a further 4,000 square meters was built out. The  space includes an additional Elementary School gym, two Elementary School computer labs, six Elementary School classrooms, a double sized music room for Elementary School, a theater rehearsal hall, and a large, well-equipped fitness room for Middle and High School. We also added a second elevator located in the Middle School.

A indoor swimming pool, 630 seat auditorium and fifth floor classroom space have recently been completed, bringing the total facility space to 34,000 square meters.  This last construction completes the original plan for the AAS campus.
